Pharmacies are generally allowed to give an emergency supply of prescriptions, so if your prescriptions are completely out, you can go to your regular pharmacy. Doctors are able to prescribe long-standing medications by fax, and the pharmacist may be able to fax us a request. Expect a turnaround time of approximately one week.
FAQs
You ask,
With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, many changes have been integrated into the healthcare system, including the increased use of telemedicine and the adoption of Al technologies. These advancements aim to provide seamless healthcare services even in challenging times.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) has issued guidelines to ensure the ethical and secure use of these technologies prioritizing patient rights, privacy, and safety. The new consent form you've received aligns with these guidelines:
Informed Consent: We believe in keeping our patients informed. This form ensures that you're fully aware of the technologies used in your care and that you agree to their use.
Privacy Assurance: New technologies mean new methods of data transfer and analysis. This form outlines our commitment to keeping your data secure, detailing how we use, protect, and store it.
Risk Transparency: All technologies have inherent risks. This consent form ensures that you're aware of them and that measures are in place to mitigate them.
Standardized Approach: This consent form is based on a CPSBC template, ensuring a consistent, patient-centric approach among all healthcare providers using telemedicine in British Columbia.
Your well-being and comfort are our top priorities. This form is a step towards more transparent, safe, and effective care. If you have further questions, please cact us directly.
To order hospital investigations or arrange a consultation with a specialist, the family doctor will send a letter to the appropriate party requesting that the patient be seen. The family doctors do not book these appointments themselves.
We will do our best to organise specialist referrals and hospital investigations in a timely manner. However, wait times are often long. Should you not obtain any follow-up on specialist referrals or hospital investigations within two months (or earlier for urgent matters), please inquire at our clinic about the status of your referral.
It may take 24 hours for them to process their faxes. If not by then, send us an email. Our faxes are e-faxed and sent immediately from a doctor’s computer.
Please check individual clinic subpages for updated information.
Health Gateway can be misleading in how it represents patients their medical histories and interactions with physicians.
An "appointment" may show up on Health Gateway if a physician has done a number of activities on a patient’s chart, which is not always an appointment with a patient.
Common examples are:
- Relaying a message to a patient by nurse or medical office assistant
- Refilling a prescription
- Completing a chart review or chronic care plan for a patient
- Speaking about the patient with another health care provider
- Sending a referral to a specialist when requested by the specialist
At Terra Nova Medical Centre, we have multiple Family Physicians and Nurse Practitioners. These care providers try to provide excellent and timely 7-day-per week coverage for 364 days per year. This means that you may see a provider who is not your regular provider interacting with your chart, relaying your messages, or refilling your prescriptions. This may show up on Health Gateway under an unfamiliar practitioner’s name.
We encourage patients to reach out to us at support@terranovamedical.ca if they have any concerns, and we will be happy to investigate it further for you.
