Use of AI-Powered Medical Documentation Tools
Description of AI-Powered Medical Documentation Tools:
Our AI-powered medical documentation tools are applications powered by AI language models. These tools assist healthcare professionals in data collection and note-taking, generating clinical notes and letters, which in turn aids in patient care. The applications can process information provided in various forms, such as text, audio, and live patient conversations, and generate notes for your doctor. They may also involve a conversation with an autonomous doctor assistant (ADA), which is strictly used for notetaking and the collection of health information by your healthcare provider.
Purpose of Use:
The use of AI-powered medical documentation tools is intended to improve the efficiency and accuracy of medical documentation, thereby freeing more time for your healthcare provider to focus on your care.
Data Processing, Confidentiality, and Security:
While these tools assist in the process of notetaking and chart generation, it is important to note that the systems may process sensitive health information provided during your consultation. The information processed by these tools is strictly used for the purpose of your ongoing medical care and is subject to strict data privacy regulations to ensure your information remains confidential.
No personal health data submitted via these applications is used to train or improve any AI model. The data sent through the applications is fully HIPAA and PIPEDA compliant. Any data transfer is secure and encrypted.
The applications communicate with the AI models over encryption-grade security, ensuring that all data requests and responses are encrypted.
Depending on provider location, content-filtering policies, or data-storage policies, third- party technologies, such as those provided by Microsoft Azure or Anthropic, may be utilized in compliance with PIPEDA and HIPAA-based privacy regulations.
No user data submitted is used to train any LLM model, whether third-party or locally hosted. These tools have stringent business associate agreements (BAAs) with their providers to ensure data privacy compliance. No data is shared directly with OpenAI.
Potential Risks:
While these tools are designed to improve the efficiency of your medical care, there are potential risks associated with their use. These include, but are not limited to, inadvertent errors in transcription or interpretation of your health information, and potential, though highly unlikely, breaches of data security. Please be assured that we have rigorous protocols in place to manage such risks. A more detailed Notice of Privacy Practices document can be requested by you if you wish.
